Luiz Carlos Barreto

Photographer and cinema producer, Barreto is one of the key men of the New Cinema [Cinema Novo], a very important movement that revolutionized Brazilian and Latin American cinema in the 1950’s. He began in the film industry in 1961, co-writing and co-producing the film The Great Train Robbery [Assalto ao trem pagador]. As a professional journalist he worked as reporter and photographer for the magazine O Cruzeiro in the 1950s and 60s, covering major national and international events.
