ITAPUÃ DO OESTE, RO, BRASIL. 07/08/2015. Trabalhador de empresa madeireira após derrubar um piquiá (Caryocar villosum), em uma área de manejo florestal legalizado na Floresta Nacional do Jamari, em Rondônia. A falta de monitoramento dos órgãos ambientais e a consequente facilidade de extração ilegal de madeira, mesmo em áreas protegidas, tem impossibilitado a formação de uma economia florestal legal e sustentável que ajude a manter a floresta em pé.

ITAPUÃ DO OESTE, RO, BRAZIL. 08/07/2015. Logger company worker after felling a piquiá tree (Caryocar villosum), in an area of​​legal forest management in the Jamari National Forest, in the state of Rondônia. The lack of monitoring by environmental agencies and the consequent ease of illegal logging, even in protected areas, has made it impossible to form a legal and sustainable forest economy that helps keep the forest standing.
